Boeing Classic, the Annual PGA TOUR Champions Tour Event, to Benefit BRI in 2010

The televised Boeing Classic will be held August 23-29 at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge golf course in Snoqualmie, Wash. The event includes 78 Champions Tour professionals with 54 holes of stroke play with no cut. The Boeing Classic earned the Champions Tours 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award. In 2009, the Champion Loren Roberts overtook Mark O’Meara with birdies on the final two holes, shooting a 65 and winning by a shot with a tournament record 18-under 198 in front of 30,000 spectators.

“We are honored to be selected as the beneficiary of the Boeing Classic,” says Gerald Nepom, MD, PhD, Director of BRI, an international leader in autoimmune disease research and one of the few institutes in the world dedicated to eliminating these diseases.

“Autoimmune diseases strike one in 20 Americans with conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and many others,” says Dr. Nepom. “With the high visibility and public support of the Boeing Classic, we believe this will be a great partnership for increasing awareness of these devastating diseases that disproportionately affect people in the Pacific Northwest.” Funds raised during the tournament will help fund research into these diseases at BRI.
