Focused Endowments

As part of our Research Visionaries Campaign, BRI is seeking the focused support of individuals who share our research vision, to establish and/or enhance existing endowments to ensure BRI researchers' steady advancement toward finding the causes and cures of autoimmune diseases.

BRI is comprised of bright and dedicated researchers focusing on critical areas of autoimmune research. Each scientist develops and cultivates a funding stream to support his or her own scientific work, typically consisting of federal grants, private grants, endowment funds and private donations. The competition for funding is rigorous and uncertain, making stable support from endowments and the contributions of donors even more critical to sustaining scientific discovery.

Thanks to the generosity of our friends and supporters, three focused endowment funds have already been launched, and are seeking additional donations. Our goal for these focused funds altogether is $4 million in endowment:

1. The Eising Chair in Medical Research supports exciting pilot projects by leading BRI investigators.

2. The Poll Diabetes Research Fund supports basic and clinical research initiatives for children with Type 1 diabetes.

3. The Nepom Translational Research Fund supports new investigators linking laboratory discoveries to clinical trials.

4. Other focused endowments support the Wilske Seminar Series at BRI and a Research Chair for Cancer Clinical Research.
