What is the Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium study?
The Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium (T1DGC) is
an international group that has formed to confirm
and identify type 1 diabetes susceptibility genes.
Internationally, the T1DGC project aims to collect
DNA samples and has recently turned its focus on
collection of minority Mexican-American and
African-American participants. All health
information collected is confidential and DNA data
will be stored centrally without personal identifiers.
Visit the Website: www.t1dgc.org
Who can participate?
Mexican-American or African-American families in
which there is one child with type 1 diabetes. We
would like the participation of the child with

Mexican-American or African-American individuals
without type 1 diabetes and that have no immediate
family members with diabetes.
