What is the Use of Human Corticotropin-Releasing Factor (hCRF) to Control Brain Swelling (edema) in Brain Tumor Patients study?

This is a research study for patients with malignant brain tumor who require chronic administration of high-dose dexamethasone. The study will compare the efficacy of human Corticotropin-Releasing Factor (hCRF) to placebo (sugar pill) in treating the symptoms of peritumoral brain edema (swelling).

Who can participate?

-Potential subjects are 18 years of age or older
with diagnosis of a primary or metastatic brain
tumor
-Must have required treatment with dexamethasone
to control the symptoms of brain swelling

What do I have to do as a study participant?

If eligible, subjects will be assigned to one of
two groups. One group will receive study drug
(hCRF), and the other will receive placebo.
Neither you nor the study team will know which
group you are assigned to. Subjects will receive
study drug for 12 weeks, during which they will
be asked to return to the clinic periodically for
clinical evaluations. These evaluations may
include physical and neurological exams,
electrocardiogram (ECG-tracing of the electrical
activity of the heart), documentation of
subject's blood pressure, pulse, temperature,
height and weight, as well as routine blood and
urine testing.
